With endless delectable Thai food to sample in the capital, it’s easy for certain dishes and neighbourhoods to slip under your radar. But if there’s one area you shouldn’t miss, it’s atmospheric Chinatown. The largest Chinese community outside of China is responsible for some seriously tasty fusion dishes, which we’ll be sampling during this Bangkok food tour.
After departing from your hotel or the meeting point, we’ll begin wandering Yaowarat Road and its offshoots. As the sun sets, Chinatown becomes increasingly atmospheric as countless market stands pop up and the smell of freshly-prepared food fills the air.
During the tour, we’ll sample everyone’s favourite dish, pad thai, which came to life on the streets of Bangkok several decades ago. These wok-fried noodles with prawns, chicken, peanuts and beansprouts can’t be beaten, but we’ll give it our best shot – next up is duck noodles, dim sum (dumplings), som tam (papaya salad), yam woon sen (glass noodle salad) and hoikrang luak (boiled cockles). We hope you’re feeling hungry!
Once you’re full of hearty local cuisine and we’ve soaked up the sights, sounds and smells of Chinatown, you’ll head back to the meeting point or your accommodation to relax and digest.
