In the lower course of the Guadalquivir is located the millennial city of Sevilla, the capital of Andalusia. This province is the most extensive of this autonomous community. Its villages and riverside towns are tokens of its vast history: from the old Phoenician Ispal, being one of the Taifa kingdoms in the Middle Ages and the capital of the Almohad empire in Al-Andalus, to its later Christian reconquest, and up to today.
