Our tour, combining the iconic Doge’s Palace and St Mark’s by night is perfect for visitors with only a limited time in Venice, who want to get a true taste of the city and visit the two monuments at their very best.
Not only you will be able to visit St. Mark’s with exclusive After Hours access to your group, but you will also get privileged access to areas usually restricted to the general public. To top it all up, we have selected an entry time for the Doge’s Palace that will strategically help avoid crowds and allow for a more peaceful and pleasant visit inside one of the most impressive monuments of Venice.
We start our guided tour at the Doge’s Palace, once home to the Duke of Venice and the city’s courts and the center of Venetian history – and as one of the world’s oldest republics, that’s quite a history! We’ll explore all the best sights of the palace open to the public, from spectacular works produced on demand by artistic masters Tintoretto and Veronese to the evidence of the genius checks and balances that made the republic so successful.
With your guide on hand to lead you through the most important rooms, to explain magnificent frescoes and to tell you the tales behind every nook and cranny, your visit to the Doge’s Palace will be the perfect way to learn about the impressive history and culture of Venice.
On the second part of your tour, with our St. Mark’s Basilica Privileged After Hours Access you will get an exclusive taste of this enigmatic site as the sun goes down, as the empty basilica’s doors will be opened especially for our groups.
After marveling at the enormity of St. Mark’s Square (declared the “finest drawing room in all of Europe” by Napoleon), we’ll be granted special access to the Basilica, having it all for us and being able to wonder freely in areas that are closed to the public during the day.
You’ll have the chance to explore the hushed, deserted interior, allowing you direct, unobstructed and up-close views of those famous glass-and-gold mosaics as they shine in the evening light.
Your guide will show you around, explaining the significance of the east-meets-west design elements, which reflect Venice’s role as a crossroads in the Mediterranean and beyond.
During your visit a custodian will also unlock special access areas that the daytime crowds make difficult to visit, such as the crypt which is said to hold the bones of St. Mark himself and the dazzling Pala d’ Oro, a gem-laden Byzantine altarpiece with over 1,900 precious stones.
This is a once in a lifetime experience that still allows to visit some of the most crowded monuments in a privileged way and without having to share it with crows of tourists.

St. Mark's Basilica: at 7:15pm or 8:15pm.
For the second part of the tour, the coordinator will advise customers the exact starting time of the St. Mark’s Basilica tour on the spot, as it will vary depending on the day:
⦁ If it starts at 19:15 clients will have a 15 minutes break
⦁ If it starts at 20:15 clients will have 1 hour and 15 minutes break
