Discover one of the most emblematic places in Catalonia with this full-day tour. Visit the
Monastery of Santa Maria and uncover the story of the virgin famously known as La Moreneta. Take a walk around the Sanctuary and imagine the lives of the monks through the centuries.
Leave the hustle and bustle of Barcelona behind aboard a comfortable bus and head to
Montserrat, one of the most famous areas of Catalonia, home to the Sanctuary of the Patron Saint of Catalonia. Upon arrival, with your guide climb aboard the rack railway and ascend towards the centre of Montserrat. As you make the climb, take in the incredible views of the mountainous landscapes that was officially declared Natural Park in 1987.
Follow your guide as you learn about the history of the monastery and learn about the details of its architecture. Fall in love with the
fusion of Gothic and Renaissance styles of its Basilica and Sanctuary and discover why this place has become a place of pilgrimage for generations of worshippers.
At approximately 1pm, you can listen to the Escolania (depending on the dates), one of the oldest children´s choirs in Europe. Visit the Sacristy with a Montserrat guide and travel back in time as you discover over 1000 years of spirituality, history and art. Finally, skip the long queues and visit the Virgin of Montserrat, or Black Madonna, also known as
La Moreneta, a 12th-century Romanesque wood carving.
