Il programma nel dettaglio
Markets are at their best in the morning when the produce is fresh and abundant. So our tour begins bright and early at one of the most beautiful and active local food markets, in the charming Triana district. Here you’ll see what the locals are buying for dinner, with a huge variety of products and fresh produce on offer. We’ll stop to introduce you to one of the most famous gourmet products in Spain, melt-in-the-mouth Iberian ham (or cheese for vegetarians), with a glass of wine, sherry or a soft drink to wash it down as we talk about the process of obtaining this remarkable cured meat. Then we’ll enjoy the aromas and flavours of some different olive varieties, marinated in typical Spanish dressings. So far, so very Spanish! After this heavenly tasting experience, we will cross the Guadalquivir River over the bridge of Triana where we’ll enjoy one of the most spectacular views of Seville. Our next stop is the Encarnacion market, located inside the biggest wooden structure in the world, which the locals affectionately refer to as ‘the mushrooms.’ This market is a much more modern affair with a rich assortment of fresh fruits, vegetables, meat and fish stands. As we wander, we’ll stop to try a snack, such as a montadito (little sandwich) with a drink of your choice to ensure we have enough energy to walk to our next destination... Our scenic stroll will take us through Regina Street, one of the best areas for in-the-know locals and tourists in the city for secondhand boutiques and cultural cafes. We’ll arrive at the Mercado de la Feria, one of the oldest in town, dating all the way back to 1719. It also happens to be our favourite because the architecture and the atmosphere are fabulous and the produce on offer is consistently of high quality, and at reasonable prices too. We’ll stop to enjoy a delicious tapa of fried fish and glass of something to refresh you, making sure that you don’t finish your tour hungry or thirsty! If you are lucky enough to book our tour on a Thursday, we’ll also be able to take in the oldest flea market in the city located at the same address as the Mercado. Your food journey with us ends here but before you go, don’t forget to ask your guide for tips on where else to eat, shop and visit during your stay in sunny Seville. Salud!
