Il programma nel dettaglio

Take in the fresh air and enjoy spectacular views as you climb two of northern Fuerteventura's most iconic volcanoes, Montaña Colorada and the impressive crater at Calderon Hondo. You'll enjoy impressive views across the northern part of the island and the neighbouring islands of Lobos and Lanzarote. A snack is included and when you return to Lajares you'll be welcomed with a tot of local honey and rum liqueur.

The walk starts at the agricultural settlement of Lajares. Montaña Colorada or the red mountain, was created by a series of eruptions around 10,000 years ago that extended the island by around 100km2 to the north and formed a large area of badlands, the Malpais de Bayuyo. The Montaña Colorada is the south-westernmost of a chain of six volcanoes on a single volcanic rift.

Nearby and forming a twin volcano you'll find the slightly higher Calderon Hondo, connected by a saddle of bright red lava. You'll be able to peer into the depths of the crater and then enjoy a snack as you contemplate the breathtaking panoramic view cross the plains of the north of Fuerteventura a second chain of volcanoes along the east coast, which culminates in the perfect cone of Montaña de Escanfraga and in clear weather the southern tip of neighbouring Lanzarote. Then when we return to Lajares enjoy a tot of local rum and honey liqueur. Meeting/pick-up point: Pick-up at the hotel.
