The tour proper begins once have crossed the border from Ceuta to Morocco. We’ll have an early photo stop along the way as well as an opportunity to ride camels. From there, it’s on to Tetouan, a city that as recently as 1956 was part of a Spanish protectorate. There is still the odd reminder of these links. A guided tour will take you landmarks such as Hassan II Square – site of the Royal Palace – the Jewish quarter, the Berber souk, the Medina and more. A noon lunch in a traditional Moroccan restaurant will be enlivened with folk music. After lunch, you’ll have some free time to walk it all off. We’ll then meet up to continue on to Tangier, which was also controlled by Spain until 1956 – and was even an English colony for 23 years in the 17th century.
