Come and enjoy an unforgettable day on a real desert island! Beautiful Lobos Island (declared a nature reserve in 1982) is a natural paradise with no cars or pollution where life goes on at a different pace. This 3 ½ hour walking tour is an ideal way to discover this unspoilt island and your knowledgeable guide will tell you all about the fascinating natural history of the area.
r The adventure starts at the port of Corralejo. We'll board a ferry and sail through crystal clear waters of different hues of blue and green, hugging the north-eastern coastline of Fuerteventura, dominated by the impressive dune system of Corralejo. After approximately 15 minutes you will disembark on Lobos Island.
r Once there we'l take the route towards the charming little fishing settlement of El Puertito, heading northwards past tiny volcanoes towards the iconic Martiño lighthouse, where you can enjoy stunning views of Lanzarote and Corralejo. We'll enjoy a picnic here in thee shade before we continue westwards towards the La Caldera volcano (approx 124m) where you can climb the short distance to the top and peer down into the crater.
r Your knowledgeable local guide will tell you all about the island's rich history, flora and fauna. The whole island is protected and has also been declared a special protection area (SPA) for birds .Its name comes from the large number of sea wolves, also called monk seals, that lived there when the island was discovered by the Spanish conquerors in the 15th Century. To spend a day here is a memorable experience and whether you’re a naturalist, ecologist, traveller, nature lover or sunseeker, you’re bound to fall in love with this romantic island.
