Here’s in a picturesque corner of the beach nestled just beneath the historic center and close to Sperlonga’s tiny port, we’ll set you up with a private beach lounge chair (one per person) and a large beach umbrella (one per two people). From here, how to spend your day is up to you! Grab a cold drink from the bar and relax with a book beneath your umbrella, go for a refreshing swim in Sperlonga’s limpid waters or take a scenic walk along the shore to catch a glimpse of the Grotto of Tiberius. Your Tour Leader will be on hand throughout to day to make suggestions.
One activity we highly recommend, sea conditions permitting, is a 1.5 hour small boat tour of Sperlonga’s coastline. From our boat, we’ll cruise past the ruins of centuries-old watchtowers, one used to look out for pirates and even the ancient via Flacca, an ancient Roman road with once served to connect the various coastal towns. You’ll encounter grottoes and even catch a glimpse of Gaeta in the distance. We’ll even have a swim stop in the crystalline sea before heading back to port.
Your Tour Leader will be able to make lunch recommendations to suit any appetite, just ask! You can choose to go all-out with a lunch of fresh, local fish at a tiny restaurant overlooking the port or go for a simple pasta salad from the beach property’s kitchen. There are plenty of options to choose from.
Consistently cited as the most beautiful beach south of Rome, Sperlonga is an unspoiled haven. Popular with locals but little known amongst visitors from afar, Sperlonga still retains much of its original character as a small-town fishing village. A prestigious “Blue Banner” award recipient for 14 years in a row, Sperlonga continues to pass strict tests every year for water quality, recycling and facilities. The result? An idyllic beach paradise just a stone’s throw away from Rome that’s perfect for a relaxing day trip.
We’ll have approx. 7 hours to enjoy the day in Sperlonga before our driver picks us up at 5:00PM to head back to Rome.

For all tours cancelled due to traffic, strikes or weather an alternative will be offered or a free change of date. Where neither are possible, a full refund will be offered.
