Il programma nel dettaglio

Study the great masters up close with this fascinating skip the line tour of the Prado Museum, one of the world’s truly great galleries. Home to thousands of works, including priceless paintings by Goya, Velazquez, Titian, Durer, Bosch, Rubens and Rembrandt, the Prado is a Mecca for amateurs and connoisseurs alike.

The tour will specifically focus on the works of Bosch, El Greco, Velázquez and Goya. The Prado proudly exhibits a number of masterpieces by each of these four artists and you will learn all about them from the knowledgeable guide.

Dutch master Hieronymus Bosch (known as El Bosco in Spain) produced works that were invariably ahead of their time. See the mystical The Seven Deadly Sins and the Four Last Things, view the haunting The Haywain Triptych and gasp at the horrifying Extracting the Stone of Madness. Then behold the multifaceted madness of The Garden of Earthly Delights.

Continue to the rooms devoted to the Greco to see The Nobleman with his Hand on his Chest and then admire spiritual light of The Trinity, the darkness of Christ Clasping the Cross and the emotion of The Annunciation.

Velázquez was perhaps the most versatile artist of his era as varied works such as The Drinkers, Vulcan's Forge, Christ on the Cross, the equestrian portraits of kings and the magnetic Las Meninas testify.

The transition from classical to modern art is expressed by the works of Goya, with a focus on the dazzling Charles IV of Spain and His Family, the unnerving yet absorbing The Third of May 1808 and his Black Series.

Meeting/pick-up point: Tourist information point at Calle Felipe IV, next to the Prado.
