Explore the Champagne region of France in the company of an expert guide who will explain how the world’s most famous sparkling wine is made. Visit the cellars of two of the most prestigious champagne labels, with a complimentary glass of champagne included at both, and see the capital of the Champagne region, Riems, with its magnificent cathedral.
After being picked up at your hotel in central Paris, you are taken by your driver guide to the Champagne region to discover the colourful vineyards of this most noble of wines. Heading for the Montagne de Reims area, stop in the village of Hautvillers, known as the cradle of champagne, which has been famous since the 18th century thanks to the activity of a local monk, Dom Perignon. Here you will find out about the unique champagne process in the company of some small scale local growers.
Then, by way of complete contrast, head to the cellars of one of the grandest champagne houses of all, Moet et Chandon, where you will be invited to sample a glass of the celebrated liquid. The afternoon is devoted to Reims and its imposing cathedral, a famous gothic landmark that witnessed the coronation of countless French monarchs.
