Il programma nel dettaglio
Experience two awe-inspiring flowerings of Greek art and culture with this great value three-in-one package taking in both Ancient and Byzantine Greece. You’ll enjoy an informative tour of Athens, city of the Acropolis, and a two-day excursion to Delphi and the Meteora. That’s three Unesco World Heritage sites in one fixed-price package!
Perhaps start with a guided tour of Athens, a unique city with an incredible story stretching back beyond recorded history. See the awe-inspiring Acropolis, the Agora market and other notable sites. There's also time to explore the new Acropolis Museum and the fantastic treasures within.
Then embark on an enlightening adventure to two very different sacred sites, ancient Delphi and the Byzantine hermitages of the Meteora. Discover what mystic power drew pilgrims from all over the ancient world to the oracle priestess of Delphi. At the Sanctuary of Apollo Pythios, learn the story of the omphalos. This mysterious ‘navel stone’ gave the Delphic oracle her powers and can still be seen at the museum. Visit the Treasury of the Athenians, built to store offerings to Apollo, and the stadium where the Pythian Games were lost or won. The next day, venture among the atmospheric Meteora, vertiginous pinnacles of rock where medieval hermit-monks constructed 24 barely accessible monasteries between Earth and heaven. Although some of the tiny churches can only be accessed via a winch and pulley, they are full of priceless religious art. From modern Athens via medieval monasteries, back into the mists of time, experience the wonders of sacred Greece with our low price Byzantine Combo!
