Il programma nel dettaglio
Enjoy a truly spectacular and unforgettable experience as you take in a live dramatic performance in the stunning, open-air Epidaurus Theatre. This Ancient Greek limestone theatre was carved into the beautiful hills of the Saronic Gulf and performances here delighted crowds thousands of years ago just as they do today. Tour the theatre from the stage to the stands before taking in a modern day performance of an Ancient Greek Drama or Comedy.
Marvel at the exceptional acoustics of the theatre, deliberately designed so that the unamplified spoken word can be heard from all parts of the stand. Your tour guide will scatter the group throughout the 15,000 capacity seating area and then strike a match on stage. The rows of limestone seats filter out low-frequency sounds such as the murmur of the crowd whilst amplifying the high-frequency sounds from the stage. You will be amazed that regardless of their position, the whole group will hear the sound of the match catching light.
Then sit back and enjoy a fantastic dramatic performance in your stunning surroundings. For the Ancient Greeks, the setting was just as important as the show itself and the lure of performing in such a beautiful arena attracts some of the world’s greatest actors to the Epidaurus Theatre. Whether you are laughing at a comedy or crying at a tragedy, you are sure to appreciate the talent of the performers on show as you are transported back in time to the age of one of the greatest human civilisations.
