4 days and 3 nights | Thailand (Bangkok) | Thailand (Bangkok) |
Day 1:
BANGKOK
Transfer from the airport (Suvarnabhumi or Don Mueang) to the Bangkok hotel. Half day visit to the most important temples outside the Royal Palace: Wat Trimit, Wat Suthat and Wat Pho. Return to the hotel.
Day 2:
BANGKOK (Breakfast)
Starting from the heart of Chinatown, the excursion follows narrow streets rich with the daily life of a community that has been living in the same area for two centuries. Shops and small businesses are everywhere, selling everything, from Buddhist amulets to recycled engines. The locals pray in colorful Taoist temples, hidden in a maze of alleys where cars cannot enter, filled with the smoke of burning incense. Old shopkeepers sit in the street to chat and drink tea. The tour ends with a visit to an interesting market. In the afternoon we leave for the excursion to the "klong", the canals of the Chao Phraya river, aboard the traditional longtail boats. It is the best way to discover an unexpected Bangkok, traditional, close but at the same time very far from that of skyscrapers, traffic and shopping centers. The excursion ends with a visit to the Wat Arun, the "Temple of the Aurora". Return to the hotel.
Day 3:
BANGKOK - DAMNERN SADUAK - BANGKOK (Breakfast)
Departure in the morning to visit Damnern Saduak, the famous floating market about an hour away from Bangkok. On the way, we visit the Mae Klong market, called ""the railway market"", as a slow train passes through the market forcing sellers to move stalls and merchandise just for a few minutes. Arrival at the floating market, where dozens of merchants, paddling on tiny pirogues loaded with fruits, vegetables and various merchandise, buy and sell from boat to boat, creating a colorful and photogenic site. Return to Bangkok. Transfer to the Royal Palace, symbol of the nation. Inside the complex we visit the Wat Phra Kaeow (which houses the Emerald Buddha), the Golden Chedi, the Pantheon of the Chakri Kings and the Eight Colored Towers. Photographs are allowed only outside the temples. This excursion requires appropriate dress code: T-shirts and shorts are not allowed for men or women. It is therefore necessary to wear long sleeves or otherwise have shoulders covered and pants and skirts up to the knee. It is also mandatory to take off the shoes before entering all the temples. Return to the hotel.
