General information

Destination
Dublin, Ireland

Program details

Depart Dublin for a packed day where we will take you on a journey that includes natural beauty, ancient monastic sites, and a Viking city.

Glendalough

The area is renowned for its magnificent scenery and rich and varied heritage. Here you will have time to explore the ruined monastic city that dates back to the 10th century. Marvel at the stunning lakes and natural beauty and see why this area is referred to as the Garden of Ireland. Used in the wedding scene of the classic ‘“Braveheart” movie Glendalough and the surrounding area will capture your heart and mind forever.

Sheepdog Trials

The farmer's dog uses a direct stare at sheep, known as "the eye", to intimidate while herding at a trial. A sheepdog trial is a competitive dog sport in which herding dogs move sheep around a field, fences, gates, or enclosures as directed by their handlers. Here our local shepherd and his trusty Collie dog will exhibit their technique to you. With any luck, there might be a few pups or lambs about for you to stroke.

Wicklow mountains

Enjoy a scenic drive through the Wicklow mountains and enjoy spectacular views of the Irish landscapes. We will stop along the way for you to stretch your legs and to take a few pictures.

Kilkenny City

Built on the banks of the River Nore, the town of Kilkenny’s narrow, winding streets lend it an atmosphere of old-world charm; its terraces of handsome Georgian houses give it elegance; and with all this, it remains a bustling modern town and market center for a fertile agricultural area. Take a walk along the Medieval Mile, a scenic discovery trail linking many of the top sights of the city.

Kilkenny Castle

Perched at a strategic height, Kilkenny Castle dominates the "High Town" of Kilkenny City. After many facelifts over the centuries, today Kilkenny Castle exhibits a blend of architectural styles. In the early thirteenth century, the original Anglo-Norman stone castle was constructed for the 4th Earl of Pembroke before becoming the main Irish residence of the powerful Butler family for almost 600 years.

Enjoy a free video presentation of the castle’s history and take in the splendour of the castle and rose gardens
