Program details
It’s time to explore one of Cincinnati’s best-kept secrets: Mt. Adams. This picturesque hilltop neighborhood is filled with history. We’ll start our tour of Mt. Adams in front of a neighborhood bar that was reportedly once a speakeasy owned by an infamous bootlegger. Then we’ll head over to a beautiful mural dedicated to the pioneers of the “hill” that will take us on a journey back in time. Along the way we’ll pass by some of the area’s beautiful architecture and see how the town has maintained its historic charm over the years. After a short walk through the center of town we’ll relax and refuel with a pastry and coffee or tea at a local café where you can dine inside or al fresco, depending on the weather and your preference. Next, we’ll walk up some steps to the spot of a former observatory and monastery then head back down to see where the famous Rookwood Pottery company was originally located and take in some breathtaking views of the city in the process. We’ll then stroll through a quaint residential area and take the “hidden” steps up to Immaculata Church and gaze at the amazing views from the top. You’ll also learn about the 158-year-old tradition that happens on the steps of the church on Good Friday each year. Finally, after all that exploring, it’s time to reward yourself with a cold drink at Cincinnati’s oldest family-owned Irish pub, known for its friendly service and great beers.
