On the way to Fort Augustus enjoy a stop at Urquhart Castle, one of the jewels of the country that boasts privileged views over Loch Ness. In addition, it is the location where Nessie has been seen most time. The ruins of the castle date from the twelfth to the sixteenth century and played a very important role in the battles of the Independence of Scotland.
After the visit to the castle, head to Fort Augustus located south of the lake, and admire the system of locks on the Caledonian canal. What´s more, the landscapes of the Cairngorms National Park and the Grampian Mountains, the mountain range that houses Ben Nevis, the largest elevation in the United Kingdom, await you. Before returning to Edinburgh, stop at Pitlochry, a Victorian town known for its main street and its fondness for fishing. Marvel at the panoramic bridges of the Forth Fjord before arriving in Edinburgh, where we will put an end to a day through the different landscapes of Scotland.
