Start this splendid day with a visit to the oldest Cromlech in Southern Europe, the Almendres Cromlech, a circular megalithic complex of nearly 100 stones, aligned with the sunrise on the day of the winter solstice dating back 7000 years.
Once in Évora, take in your surroundings, filled with relics from the past in all directions. Admire the simplicity of the stately Roman Temple. Be awed by a visit to the famous Chapel of Bones. Remark on this truly spectacular macabre creation of the past, as you learn of its history. Get the opportunity to explore the Imperial Palace where Vasco da Gama was ordered to discover the sea route to India.
Finally, nothing better than a regional Alentejo olive oil tasting from Portugal's largest wine and olive-producing region to complete our trip to Évora. You will have free time to stroll through the streets of Évora and get to know the local crafts before and taste the very rich local cuisine based mainly on pork, olive oil, soups, Alentejo bread and codfish dishes.
