Led by an expert “Opera del Duomo” Guide (the only guide allowed) discover where some of the greatest Renaissance artists have worked, and where stonemasons continue to work, live in front of your very own eyes. See “behind the scenes” in this exclusive opening tour.
The tour begins inside an ancient rectory next to the Cathedral where you can see exclusive images and reconstructions on how the Duomo Complex and the city have come to be the Cradle of the Renaissance over the centuries. Discover the workshop where the famous “David” was once carved by Michelangelo, and where stonemasons tirelessly work to restore authentic masterpieces using only original tools and techniques.
The tour includes a guided visit of the Baptistery and Santa Maria del Fiore Cathedral, where you will learn about the wonderful works of art kept here. Just a few steps from the Cathedral we round off the tour with a tasting of Chianti wine complemented by cheese with balsamic vinegar. Your ticket is valid 72 hours and allows you to visit on your own all the monuments at the Duomo complex (except the Brunelleschi’s Dome).
