Program details

This engineering gem is held in high regard which makes it a must-see attraction. This coast to coast train ride is the perfect way to leave no stone unturned, zigzag your way through the jungle catching sight of all things natural as you go! This opened up many moons ago, in fact over a century ago. The Canal revolutionized the world of sailing and maritime trade by slashing the journey time and cutting down the risks to do with sailing around the ever dangerous Cape Horn.

This train ride gives you the 411 on everything so you get the chance to find out all about the history here. They started working on the tracks in the 1800’s and finished it off around the same time that the Panama Canal was first opened and these railroads used to be the meat and potatoes when it came to getting between the Atlantic and Pacific. The Canal has come on leaps and bounds since then, they have time and time again brushed it up and it seems as though they take it in their stride to keep that up.

All things considered, this is one of the best treasured train rides on the planet, the terrific train trip follow a postcard-pretty path across the Isthmus of Panama. Cruise through radiant rainforests, get a closer look at the locks and glide your way alongside Gatun Lake.

On the regular tour, the local guide will take you along to the train and will let you know about the next meeting point so that you know how to get back to the hotel and for an hour or so you get to sit back and run your eyes over the views. There might or might not be a local guide from the train company on the train journey with you; this is not set in stone. Albeit, on the guided tour the guide won’t leave your side and will be on hand to give you the lowdown as you drift your way along the tracks so you don’t miss a beat. Make the most of the trip by honing in on all the tales they have to tell.
