Hop aboard the famous bullet train from Tokyo to Kyoto for a day discovering the sights and sounds of Kyoto. Arrive in the former ancient capital to begin a tour of the many temples and palaces that adorn the city. But firstly, take a break to have a western-style lunch before beginning your whirlwind tour of Kyoto’s palaces, shrines and temples.



After lunch you will travel to Heian Jingu Shrine, built to celebrate the 1101st anniversary of Kyoto’s founding, its characteristic red architecture makes this an impressive sight to behold. Visit the world’s longest wooden structure, Sanjusangen-do Temple, which houses 1,001 life-size statues of Buddhist Kannon deities. And last on the itinerary is Kiyomizu-dera Temple, from where you can admire all of Kyoto from its superb viewpoint before boarding the Shinkansen train back to Tokyo.

The guide does not ride on the Shinkansen with tour participants. During the Jidai Festival on October 22, Heian Jingu Shrine is closed to the public and will be replaced in the itinerary by Chishaku-in Temple. If the Jidai Festival is postponed, we will follow suit with the itinerary change. Please inform us when booking if you would like to disembark at a station other than Tokyo Station. Also, note that changes to the Shinkansen trip length cannot be made after departure.
