Program details
There is no better way to unwind than to take a journey to the peaceful Prince’ Islands. Sit back and admire Istanbul’s breath-taking and charming coastline and famous landmarks such as Topkapi Palace, Leander's Tower and Üsküdar on Istanbul's Asian shore.
Büyükada is a popular resort for the locals in the summer with its white sandy beaches and fragrant pine forests, but it was once a place of exile for Byzantine Emperors (and Leon Trotsky) as well as a popular retreat for wealthy Istanbulites in the first half of the 20th Century. Prince’s Islands are summer places; away from the rush of the city they offer a different experience with their unique climate, vegetation and vehicle free roads. Only horse-carriages named Phaeton are allowed on Prince’s Islands.
Take a seat on the Phaeton and admire the sights of the island and its exquisite and elegant mansions. As you explore some of the islands' quiet back streets, you'll feel as if you've found your way back to the late 19th century and an Istanbul that no longer exists on the mainland.
