This tour include visit White temple, Blue temple, Black House and Karen Longneck Wat Rong Khun, perhaps better known to foreigners as the White Temple, is a contemporary, unconventional, privately owned, art exhibit in the style of a Buddhist temple in Chiang Rai Province, Thailand.
It is owned by Chalermchai Kositpipat, who designed, constructed, and opened it to visitors in 1997. Baan Dam is Thawan Duchanee’s artful portrayal of hell. The opaque decor and dead animals adorning each room make Duchanee's estate the complete opposite of the White Temple, the glimpse of heaven designed by his teacher Chalermchai Kositpipat. Although off the beaten track, the Black Temple is not something to be overlooked. Completed only in January 2016, the temple is mostly blue and gold, and with a Lanna motif of northern Thailand. The name of the temple means dancing tiger, in homage to the plethora of tigers that used to roam the jungles of the region.
The blue temple Chiang Rai is open from 6am till 7pm. At 6am it is too dark to get a nice photo as the sun doesn’t rise until 7am and successfully took some beautiful photos.
You are greeted with a big white Buddha sitting on a lotus. There are three different buildings on this site and we didn’t know which way to head first. To the left is the giant Buddha and to the right, a golden Chinese Pagoda and a white Buddhist Temple. Longneck Karen is one of Karen tribes. They call themselves Padaung. It is believed that originally they came from Yunnan Province, central China. Later in 1000 AD according to the history, they migrated to Salween River Basin in Myanmar. In 1995, there were approximately 25,000 Padaungs living in Myanmar. They mainly live on traditional agricultural activities. After political incident against the minorities in Myanmar, Padaungs have evacuated from Myanmar and until now cannot fully identify where is the major location they are living in. It is believed that they scattered all over the area and co-live with other minority group that armed so that they can be protected.
