Program details
Our gastronomic tour will start in a very popular area of San Jose called Barrio Amón, located near the center of the city. Here, your local guide will find you and prepare you for a tasting party - enough for a hearty dinner! During this tour you will have the opportunity to try a complete variety of culinary delights in locally beloved restaurants, exclusive family organic food shops and specialized in traditional food.
And of course, being in Costa Rica, we have to stop at a place that is famous for its coffee. You will learn about all the foods you are tasting directly from the charismatic entrepreneurs, chefs and artisans who prepare and preserve these cultural traditions. Best of all you will avoid tourist spots and go to the restaurants that locals frequent.
One of the stops in this gastronomic adventure will be in a very popular shop specializing in coffee tasting, where you can choose from 20 different varieties of this traditional drink. In addition, we will visit one of our favorite restaurants, which serves authentic Costa Rican food.
We will also go to specialty restaurants, which offer vegetarian dishes, seasonal snacks and local drinks. But not only eating is this experience! Between each tasting, you will learn about the country's political past, meet its bustling shopping area and explore the charming tree-lined streets of old San Jose.
