Program details

Experience two contrasting expressions of the American dream with this day excursion to Philadelphia and Amish Country. Explore the cosmopolitan, urban Philadelphia and the rolling farmland and rural beauty of the Garden Spot of America, Lancaster County. Here you will get a chance to learn more about one of America’s most unusual communities, the Amish.

From New York, travel through New Jersey, Pennsylvania and on to the city of brotherly love, Philadelphia. The city holds a rich industrial heritage as a railroad hub drawing millions of European immigrants and African American migrants from the rural Southern United States.

Embark on a panoramic tour where you will discover more, taking in the colours of Chinatown, the beautiful Benjamin Franklin Parkway, and the oldest and most charming inhabited street in America, Elfreth’s Alley. See the Congress Hall and the iconic Liberty Bell.

Continue to Lancaster County, home of the Amish people. After a break to spend at your leisure at the Amish marketplace, you will visit an Amish farmhouse and learn more about their fascinating but misunderstood lifestyle. Rejecting electric lights and cars for lanterns and horse-drawn buggies, these present-day Anabaptists lead lives of voluntary simplicity in seclusion from the world around them.

Afterwards it´s time to hop back on the coach for a scenic drive back for an evening arrival into New York.
