Program details
The route from Westminster to Greenwich is a journey through London’s past, taking you from the heart of the city and its Roman origins as Londinium, to the docklands from where it opened out to the world and became the nerve centre of a global trading empire.
The cruise lasts just under two hours and features a menu with traditional English favourites. Along the way, pass such sights as Big Ben and Palace of Westminster, the London Eye giant Ferris wheel and the site of first Roman crossing of the River Thames. Pass also the tallest building in Western Europe, the 87-storey Shard, and the glistening skyscrapers of the Canary Wharf financial district.
Enjoy an intriguing snapshot of the importance of the sea to London’s history as you sail passed a full-size reconstruction of the Golden Hinde, the galleon used by 16th century pirate Francis Drake, and get a close-up view of a genuine WWII warship, the HMS Belfast.
The lunch includes a main course of thyme, rosemary lemon-roasted supreme of chicken with creamy leek, tarragon and mushroom sauce served with Dauphinoise potatoes and seasonal vegetables. Dessert is white, dark and milk chocolate truffle cake with raspberry sauce. Coffee and tea are included.
There is also a children’s menu with roast chicken with penne pasta and the same dessert.
The vegetarian menu includes a main course of baked field mushroom filled with artichokes, asparagus and crème fraiche wrapped in lattice pastry served with Dauphinoise potato and seasonal vegetables. The dessert is a white, dark and milk chocolate truffle cake with raspberry sauce. Tea and coffee are also included.
