Program details

Immerse yourself in the city of the young Picasso and walk the streets that played such an integral part in the formation of his ideas and style. Follow in his footsteps as you discover his favourite haunts in the city he loved and experience the sights and sounds immortalised in many of his most famous paintings. A large number of his formative works can be found at the Picasso Museum, the most visited museum in Barcelona.

Your knowledgeable local guide will lead you through the Bohemian Barcelona where Picasso worked and lived in the early years of the last century. Among the intriguing stop-offs on your tour is the infamous Els 4 Gats Café, the legendary tavern and brothel, once the focal point of the great artist's life. You will also visit the Carrer d'Avinyó, inspiration for his famous painting Les Demoiselles d'Avignon, and the Bohemian quarter of La Ribera, close to the port and dominated by the Gothic Cathedral of Santa Maria del Mar.

The tour ends near the Picasso Museum, which displays more than 3,500 works by the artist who developed his iconic style in these streets. The collection features paintings mainly from his Blue and Rose periods and to date has welcomed over a million visitors. From time to time the museum also hosts lectures and seminars by global experts on Picasso and his impact on the artistic world.
