General information

Program details

You can follow your own pace as you visit the different areas of the complex. See the tendons (the bleachers), the arena, the pens where the bulls wait before entering the ring and where the matadors build up their courage, the infirmary, the Puerta Grande - where the fighters dream of being carried out aloft after a successful corrida - and the souvenir shop.

Built-in neo-Mudejar between 1929 and 1931, Las Ventas has a capacity for almost 24,000 fans, making it the third-largest bullring in the world. It has witnessed some of the most dramatic fights in history, with fewer than 100 matadors earning the right to leave by the Puerta Grande. Over the decades, illustrious bullfighting aficionados such as Ernest Hemingway and Orson Welles made the yearly pilgrimage to this Mecca for the corridas.
