Journey to the past and visit Valledemossa, a picture-postcard village that seems to have stood still in time. Nestling on a hilltop in a verdant valley of olive and almond groves, the town is dominated by the turquoise spire of the historic charterhouse, where tragic composer Frederic Chopin lived during the winter he spent in Mallorca.

This half-day excursion includes visits to the two most important building in Valldemossa and allows you free time to wander the quaint medieval lanes as well as browse the many shops selling traditional handicrafts and wares.

Enjoy a guided tour of the Palace of King Sanç and the former Carthusian monastery of La Cartuja (charterhouse). Admire the beautifully furnished rooms that evoke the Mallorca of old and the peaceful cloisters. Take a seat, if you wish, and enjoy a piano concerto in the palace auditorium. Chopin and his lover, writer George Sand, lived in the charterhouse in the winter of 1838-39, a decade before the composer died aged just 39. He is believed to have written here works such as Scherzo No.3 and some of his 24 Preludes.

Afterwards, explore the village at your leisure. Many of the immaculately preserved streets and alleys are lined with plants; such is the pride the locals take in their village.
