Tap in to the Carioca lifestyle on this tour that shows you how to go around Rio like a real local! We’ll start in the famous Copacabana area, then ride the subway downtown to Cinelandia Square. We’ll opt for the newest transport option in Rio: the tram, which takes you along to the renovated and modern Olympic Boulevard. You’ll be able to check out some of the amazing Olympic area that is as much at home in Rio as the historical landmarks. When you mosey around you’ll come to know the awesome Kobra mural which is made up of images of indigenous people from five continents! You are sure to familiarise yourself with the stunning street art and incredible architecture.
Straight from the boulevard, we go down to the magnificent Museum of Tomorrow which is yet another impressive sight to see. Be sure to snap some photos with Guanabara Bay providing a stunningly beautiful backdrop. Moving along the old streets, we’ll reach the city’s first ever bakery! Indulge yourself to some of the yummiest treats in town. After this sugar rush, we’ll pop along to Carioca Square where we’ll catch the subway back to Copacabana for a bite.
We’ll walk off lunch by roaming around one of Rio’s quieter neighbourhoods. Find out all about Urca, the wonderful neighbourhood where Rio de Janeiro started out from. Hopping off at Urca beach, we’ll wander along the coast to one of the locals’ favourite hot spots in town - The Urca wall (mureta da Urca). The Cariocas love to kick back with a beer there and you will too! You’ll also get to take a nibble out of the excellent empadinhas (mini pasties) from a traditional spot.
Once we’re had our fill of beers and such, we’ll wind our way over to the Red beach and the Claudio Coutinho walking path. This path leads many a hiker to the very top of Sugarloaf Mountain but fear not as we won’t need to pull out our hiking boots any time soon! In fact we’ll take the cable car up there instead.
On our journey to the top of Sugarloaf Mountain, we’ll stop off first at Urca Hill, where you’ll get your first breath-taking moment looking at the beautiful Botafogo beaming right below us. Carry on up to the top on the second cable car ride all the way up to the Sugarloaf summit where you’ll be treated to stunning views across Guanabara Bay, Copacabana and of course the city centre. This is the perfect finale to the tour as the stunning 360-degree view will show you why Rio is known as “The Marvellous City”.
