Program details

Live like an Impressionist on a visit to Giverny. The marvellous Seine Valley countryside inspired the work of the world famous painter Claude Monet, who chose to live in Giverny for over half of his lifetime. Your driver –guide is friendly and passionate about the district and its most famous resident, and will impart his knowledge onto you during this fascinating tour.

Monet’s son Michel donated his father’s studio and gardens to the Academy of Fine Arts in 1966 and they have been restored with meticulous detail and accuracy, so that you feel as if you are stepping into the artist’s own mind as you wander through the beautiful, colourful gardens. Stroll past the breath taking water lily pond and its famous Japanese bridge, the main sources of inspiration of Monet towards the end of his life.
Take your time and explore the huge Nymphea’s studio at your leisure, including the extensive collection of Japanese engravings displayed in several rooms and kept hung in the same places as chosen by Monet himself.
The tour also encompasses a trip to the Musée des Impressionismes Giverny, which is dedicated to celebrating the history of Impressionism, and ensuring its continuation in the Giverny art community. The building was designed specifically to respect and enhance the natural landscape of the Seine valley, following the natural slope of the hillside and positioning windows to allow a view of the hills of Giverny. The museum is a perfect dedication to the strong relationship between Impressionism and nature.
