Program details

This tour will lead you to one of the most intimate and fascinating locations making part of the Duomo Complex, where time seems to have stopped centuries ago.

Leading by an expert “Opera del Duomo” Guide (the only guide allowed) you will discover the workshop where some of the greatest Renaissance artists have worked and where the famous David has been carved by Michelangelo. A place where professional stonemasons work with passion to restore authentic masterpieces, still using the original tools and techniques used in the past. A Renaissance workshop live, in front of you!

Before the guided tour you will also have the possibility to watch, inside an ancient rectory next to the Cathedral, a fascinating video showing, through exclusive images and reconstructions, how the whole Duomo complex has grown during the centuries, together with the rest of the city, known today as the "Cradle of the Renaissance".

The tour includes as well, the guided visit of the Baptistery and Santa Maria del Fiore Cathedral, where you will learn about the wonderful works of art kept there, many of whose restored in the stonemasons workshop.

At the end of your visit, a few steps from the Cathedral square, you will be offered a delicious taste of Chianti wine and tidbits of cheese with balsamic vinegar.

Your ticket is valid 24 hours and allows you to visit on your own other monuments at the Duomo complex (Dome by Brunelleschi, Crypt of St. Reparata, Giotto's bell tower).
