Program details
Tour beautiful Boston and discover the history of the American Revolution on this educational day trip from New York. Depart New York and travel through Connecticut and Massachusetts before arriving at the state capital, Boston, known as the birthplace of the nation. Walk back in history along the Freedom Trail to see Benjamin Franklin’s school, Paul Revere’s house, and 14 other dramatic revolutionary sites.
Explore Boston Harbour, the location of the famous 1773 Boston Tea Party, where the Sons of Liberty disguised themselves and destroyed a shipload of tea in protest at British rule. The initial defiance of the Tea Party escalated into the American Revolution, and the rest is history. Then visit the USS Constitution. First launched in 1797 and named by George Washington himself, she is now the oldest commissioned naval vessel still afloat. Pause at the battlefield at Bunkers Hill, and imagine the bloodshed of the siege of Boston, where British troops suffered heavy losses at the start of the Revolutionary War. Then wander through the downtown financial district and break for lunch on your own under the beautiful vaulted ceilings of Quincy Market.
After lunch take a stroll among the elms of Boston Common, the oldest city park in the United States. Then cross the Charles River to take in the leafy squares of the illustrious universities of Cambridge: Harvard and MIT. We depart late afternoon for an evening arrival into New York City.
