Program details

One of the greatest children’s stories of all comes to life on the West End stage with this award-winning musical adaptation of Roald Dahl’s classic Matilda. It tells the story of Matilda Wormwood, a very special little girl with an extraordinary imagination whose parents aren’t the most attentive. All who have seen the musical have been wowed by its sheer energy and the scope of its sensational songs.

Matilda The Musical has been described by critics as hilarious, moving and glorious, and as an utterly exhilarating evening of unadulterated bliss. Children and adults alike have been thrilled and delighted by this enchanting story. Despite her special gifts, Matilda’s parents think she is a nuisance and she thinks, quite rightly, that they are TV addicts and ignore her in favour of the box. Alas for poor Matilda, life isn’t much better at school, where the horrendous headmistress, Miss Trunchbull, terrifies both student and teacher alike. Then one day Matilda discovers that she possesses a very special power and decides it’s time that grown-ups were taught a lesson. To say any more would be telling too much so come along and discover for yourself just why everyone is raving about Matilda.

Produced by the prestigious Royal Shakespeare Company, between show and performers, there have been almost 60 award nominations, with more than half receiving the prize. Among the gongs are five Olivier Awards and five Tony Awards, the most prestigious in the business.

Duration: Approximately two hours and 40 minutes.
Start/opening time: Tuesday at 7pm and from Wednesday to Saturday at 7.30pm.
