Program details
Take centre stage in Shakespeare’s Globe and travel back in time in a replica of theatre where his plays were performed during the bard’s lifetime.Highlights- Learn all about the life and work of Shakespeare
- Visit the legendary Globe auditorium
This guided tour will give you an intriguing insight into the late Elizabethan and early Jacobean eras as well as an understanding of the great man’s life and his timeless works.
The tour has two phases: the guided tour of the theatre and a visit at your own leisure to the exhibition, which is full of fascinating information about his 38 plays and more than 150 sonnets – works such as Romeo and Juliet, Hamlet and King Lear that have captured the hearts and stimulated the minds of millions throughout the ages.
The original Globe lasted barely four decades, beset by fires and hostile local residents. But for the last 17 years of Shakespeare’s life it was the dramatic heartbeat of England’s capital. The modern Globe has been rebuilt using old drawings, maps and plans to resemble its forerunner, which was located just 200 metres away.
The tour focuses on Shakespeare’s life in London and the environment where he lived and on the theatre for which he wrote his most important dramas. Hear the story of its iconic restoration and visit the legendary auditorium.
