Program details

Casa Beal is the name of the Visa-Tor family winery, which evidences the resurgence of wine production in the Principality of Andorra after a gap of more than a century. Our winery was started up in 1988. After many trials, at the end of June 2004 we replanted with new grafted stocks and two years later we were able to make the first Andorran wine of the 21st century. In 2006 Cim de Cel was launched on the market.

The vineyard The best-kept secret of the Pyrenees: The location of the vineyards, at 1,050 and 1,100 metres above sea level, means that it is one of the few vineyards in Europe where the grapes are gathered at an altitude of over 1,000 metres. One of the innovative features of Casa Beal is that we practise biodynamic viticulture, involving the application of several techniques to the vines according to the phases of the moon, in order to achieve a ripening which is well balanced between fruit and plant. The gewürztraminer has proved to be the variety best suited to the terrain, although it is one of the most difficult in marketing. What makes this variety particularly viable is the open soil of the vineyards, resulting from the degradation of slate over the mother rock.

The winery Maximum quality and organic guarantee. Gold Medal at International Wine Guide 2014: The Casa Beal winery is designed to produce top range white wines with maximum quality and a totally organic guarantee. Only the finest selected grapes arrive at the sorting belt, whole, by means of a conveyor belt which lifts them to the press, and the winery’s oenological laboratory applies exhaustive quality control throughout the process of preparation and the fermentation type. We press the grapes with a pneumatic press at light pressure in order to extract only the finest juice, as we are not trying to obtain the maximum possible must, but rather the very best.

CASA BEAL offers guided visits to the winery and the vineyards where Cim de Cel is made, the first wine from the Principality of Andorra. This is a really innovative tourist offer, original and unique in the Principality, and is looked after by the members of the Visa Tor family, the owners of CASA BEAL, under the personal supervision of Mr. Joan Visa. The CASA BEAL property, surrounded by holm oaks and deciduous oaks, lies at an altitude of 1,100 m, making it one of the highest wineries in Europe. It has a privileged location in Sant Julià de Lòria, from where there is an excellent view of the whole of the Parish.
