Historic and modern London
Take in four of London’s very top attractions in between exploring the city’s historic and modern districts.
This full day guided tour allows you to experience the pomp and circumstance of the Changing of the Guard, visit the notorious Tower of London and the stunning St Paul’s Cathedral before embarking on a scenic Thames cruise.
The Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace is one of those quintessentially British events that are known the world over. This tradition dates back to 1660, when the monarchy had been restored after Cromwell’s dictatorship ended. It is an awe-inspiring ceremony endowed with the pageantry that the English are so renowned for.
The Tower is the holder of one of its most enduring legends: that of the ravens who keep the kingdom from falling. Since the 11th century, the Tower has served as a fortress and prison. Notable recluses include Anne Boleyn – whose ghost is said to haunt it – Guy Fawkes, Lady Jane Grey and Rudolf Hess.
The baroque brilliance of St Paul’s Cathedral rises above the concrete and glass of the modern city, a majestic reminder of old London. Marvel at the meticulous mosaics that decorate the choir or the extravagantly gilded high altar. Visit the Golden Gallery and enjoy stunning views of London or test the acoustics of the Whispering Gallery.
Complete your stunning London day tour with one of the more charming things to do in London and gain a new perspective on the city with the Thames cruise.
