Live large in South Florida with a two-day adventure to Miami’s South Beach, the Everglades and an optional dip with the dolphins in Key Largo.
The first stop is the wet and wonderful world of the Florida Everglades. Explore this enormous watershed during a thrilling airboat ride. The unique subtropical wilderness is the consequence of the temperate North American climate colliding with the tropical Caribbean conditions. The result is an mind-boggling diversity of habitats and plant and animal life. The manatee, American crocodile and even the Florida panther are just a few of the rare or endangered species that live in the Everglades. Bring your camera and maybe you will be able to document your meeting. Certainly, you will want to capture the mangrove forests. The lush, alive Everglades offer a singular experience that amazes and arouses all the senses.
Leave the wild kingdom for some savage shopping in the chic Bayside Marketplace, a shopping complex with a number of specialty and name-brand stores. The area also has a spectacular view of the Miami skyline. Shop ‘til you drop, dine in one of the many excellent restaurants or take advantage of the entertainment options.
You will be transported to your hotel in South Beach’s historic and hip Art Deco district. Long gone are the “Miami Vice” days of shady characters and rundown buildings, South Beach is one of Florida’s most exclusive communities. Restaurants, shops, museums and the sparkling white sandy beach are just steps away.
The next morning, the world is your oyster. Dine on seafood at the Miami Beach Marina, take a tour of the Art Deco district to learn more about this 20th century architecture style that defines South Beach’s pastel-colored hotels, or walk along Ocean Drive. (You cover any expenses). In the afternoon, return to Orlando or head south to Key Largo for an optional adventure with the dolphins. You will learn all about these intelligent mammals before joining them in the water. You will be able to interact with the dolphins in a safe, fun manner. The swim session is in a natural ocean water lagoon that is approx. 4.5m deep. Flotation vests are provided and mandatory for all dolphin swimmers to wear. Children must be 7 years and older to swim with the dolphins. Children 7-12 years must be accompanied by a legal guardian. All participants in the dolphin swim must be able to swim properly.
