Program details
Legend has it that the ghosts of plague victims from hundreds of years ago haunt the narrow closes off the Royal Mile. Question is… are you brave enough to find out for yourself?
In a city as steeped in history as Edinburgh, the presence of ghosts comes as no surprise. This supernatural night-time tour will wander through some of the most haunted spots, visiting the sites of ancient massacres, pyres where witches were burned at the stake and cemeteries that have survived through the ages and are still bang in the middle of the city.
You will visit some of the parts of the city most feared for their dark secrets and haunting apparitions. During the two-hour guided tour you will visit creepy closes as we make our way to the North Bridge and on to a private cemetery that we will have all to ourselves. You will also visit the historic Old Calton Cemetery, where philosopher David Hume is buried.
Then we’ll climb Calton Hill itself, which not only offers magnificent panoramic views of the city but also houses an eclectic series of monuments and buildings.
We’ll end the night in search of the most famous of all Scotch spirits by visiting some well-known pubs, where the ghosts of yesteryear a still engaged in lively discussions that will never end.
