In just one day you can see the most enchanting places that western Crete has to offer. Take it all in whilst learning about the fascinating history with a knowledgeable on hand.
After picking you up from the hotel, our first stop is the WWII Cemetery at Souda Bay. An area that is known for its British military history, here is an especially poignant place where green lawns edge the shore and where 1,500 British and Commonwealth soldiers who died here during the 1841 Battle of Crete are buried.
Visit the nearby grave of Crete's national hero, Eleftherios Venizelos, on our way to one of Crete’s most beautiful harbour towns – Chania. Hugging the old Venetian harbour, you can stroll along its cobbled lanes with a guided tour and free time for shopping before driving on to Vrisses. Here you can sample some of Crete’s home-grown wines and continue to Lake Kournas, Crete's largest lake. Relax with a drink and admire the views, and return to your hotel in the early evening.
