Program details
Draw your own special impressions of Paris with this themed tour focussing on Claude Monet and the impressionist art movement he founded. Visit the Orangerie Museum, where some of his most famous works are exhibited, and the picturesque Norman hamlet of Giverny, where he was inspired to paint many of his greatest pieces.
Begin your cultural journey at the Orangerie, located in the Tuileries Gardens by the Place de la Concorde. Admire the fabulous collection of masterpieces from the Jean Walter and Paul Guillaume Collection, a highly original insight into modern art featuring works impressionist and post-impressionist works by Cezanne, Renoir, Picasso, Rousseau, Matisse, Derain, Modigliani, Soutine, Utrillo and Laurencin. Among the star attractions are a series of Monet’s celebrated Water Lilies, which he painted at his rustic country home in Giverny.
You have free time for lunch and maybe stroll through the Tuileries before we meet up again to travel to Giverny, some 90 minutes’ drive from Paris.
Monet is buried in this village, which he moved to in the late 19th century and lived in until his death in 1926. Enjoy a guided tour of his home, including the studio, the gardens and the famous pond – the inspiration for his Water Lilies. The garden and pond will be instantly recognisable from what you saw earlier in the day at the gallery. You also have free time to wander the home at your own leisure.
